Downton Season 3 Finale

I think this pretty much sums up how we all felt, right? Here are two of my sisters right after watching the Downton season 3 Christmas special. Indignation, dismay, mascara smudges. Dan... you broke our hearts

Still, my love for Downton goes on. Here are a few things keeping it alive:

The Unofficial Downton Abbey Cookbook -- includes recipes I am not brave enough to try (Stubborn Oxtail Soup) but even more recipes I can't wait to make (Sweet Lemon Curd -- my dad swears English lemon curd is the best there is).

Jimmy Fallon's Downton Sixbey -- thank you for existing. Try to watch the first episode and not start pronouncing "here" as "he-ah".

Sesame Street does another cute spoof: Upside Downton Abbey

Love her or hate her, Lady Mary looks beautiful in these talented artists' prints for sale on Etsy here and he-ah

I get a big kick out these Houndton Tabby prints. Mrs. Patmore as a cat? Anna as a Greyhound? It weirdly works.

Finally, I will probably watch A Very Carson Christmas every December for the rest of my life. Rumor has it, ooh.

Mountains

I've felt inspired by nature scenes lately, especially ones with mountains. They just call out a summer vacation kind of feeling, don't you think? Road trips, camping, the smell of evergreens... I love it all, it reminds me of being a kid. Anyway, last week we kayaked at String Lake at the base of the Tetons (it was beautiful! serene! and then I fell in) and I shot this pic on our drive back past Palisades Reservoir. Here are some other mountain images I've been looking at online that I love.

HAHA: Storm Troopers

This makes me laugh! It's been a long time since I watched Star Wars, I'm thinking it might be time for an Episode 4-6 marathon.

New Little Upside-Down Cake

Quick little redesign of Sanda's blog header. She has a MOST EXCELLENT food blog that will literally have you considering buying a plane ticket to Portugal just so you can try some of her baked goods. :)

V-Day emergency, high school edition

My sister kinda sorta likes a guy, chickened out on making him a Valentine, then got to school and realized oh my gosh what if he got me something and I don't have anything for him!! She texted me and I was on it. (See? Cell phones at school can be a good thing.) This is being delivered to her during lunch just in case.

Card base is watercolor paper cut with Stampin' Up!'s Top Note die and a Sizzix Big Shot. Doily, ribbon, and heart glitter are craft supply. Used Zip Dry paper glue for the glitter as it doesn't wrinkle paper. Letters are by American Crafts

Laurel Denise 2011 calendar

Feeling the need to get organized, I searched online and found this neat planner from Laurel Denise. So carefully thought out, and completely put together by hand. I love it.
I appreciate her attention to detail, down to the brown paper packaging, tied up with string. Available here
